Doljanchi OG Generator FAQ — 15 Questions
'Why won't my KakaoTalk thumbnail update?' 'What's the difference between 1:2 and 6:4?' 'Is my baby's photo uploaded to a server?' — 15 of the most-asked questions answered.
- Q1. Is the baby photo I upload stored on a server?
- No. All image processing is done with the browser's Canvas API. Photos, names, and other input data are never sent to any server. This is a fully client-side design.
- Q2. I already made a doljanchi invitation — do I still need this tool?
- Yes, if you want channel-optimized thumbnails. Most doljanchi platforms (Dalpeng, Filmake, Onlyforyou, Thegoodday) only provide a built-in editor and don't generate separate KakaoTalk (1:2, 6:4) or Facebook OG (1200×630) images. This tool fills that gap.
- Q3. My KakaoTalk thumbnail isn't updating. Why?
- KakaoTalk caches scraped OG images for hours to days. Add a query parameter like ?v=2 to the URL and reshare the new link, or use Facebook Sharing Debugger / Kakao Message Debugger to force a re-scrape. If all else fails, change the og:image URL itself (filename or hash).
- Q4. Which template is the safest / most versatile?
- Pastel (pink and baby blue) is the most universally suitable. It works for both boys and girls and looks natural on KakaoTalk, Instagram, and blogs. Use the Hanbok template for traditional dress photos, or Classic for a formal hotel-style party.
- Q5. Should I use KakaoTalk 1:2 or 6:4?
- 1:2 (800×400) is the safest default. Since 2025 KakaoTalk also supports 6:4 (1200×800), but older apps and PC KakaoTalk still render 1:2. Download both and use accordingly.
- Q6. Why do I need to make 1200×630 and KakaoTalk 1:2 separately?
- 1200×630 (1.91:1) is the Facebook/X/Naver OG standard; 1:2 (800×400) is KakaoTalk's own format. Using a 1200×630 image on KakaoTalk often results in auto-cropping that cuts off the important part of the image.
- Q7. Can I use it for Instagram Stories?
- Yes, 1080×1920 portrait format is provided. It uses a layout with the baby photo at the top and a date/venue card at the bottom — optimized for mobile full-screen. Works for Instagram Stories, Threads, and TikTok profiles.
- Q8. Can I make an image without a baby photo?
- Yes. If you don't upload a photo, the image is generated with a '📷 Photo placeholder' in the photo area. Useful if you prefer a minimal text-only style.
- Q9. How do I use the shareable query link?
- Click 'Copy Share Link' to copy a URL with your current inputs serialized (e.g. ?name=Sky&date=2026-05-10&tpl=pastel). Send it to someone and they'll open the tool with the same settings pre-filled. Great for collaborative preview and review.
- Q10. Can I use it for 100-day, 200-day, or second birthday?
- Yes. Use the 'Event Type' buttons to select 100-day, 200-day, first birthday, or second birthday. The text labels update automatically.
- Q11. Can I generate doljanchi item (doljabi) event images too?
- The current MVP focuses on OG image generation. A guide to the 10 traditional doljabi items is available as text on the Guide page. A dedicated doljabi card generator may be added if there is enough demand.
- Q12. Who owns the copyright of the downloaded PNG?
- The generated image belongs to you. Feel free to use it for your party invitation or family memorial purposes. However, the original copyright and portrait rights for any baby photo you upload remain your (the parent's) responsibility.
- Q13. How do I add OG tags to my hosted doljanchi invitation URL?
- Add to your HTML head: <meta property='og:image' content='URL of PNG downloaded from this tool' />, <meta property='og:title' content='Sky's First Birthday Invitation' />, <meta property='og:description' content='2026.05.10 Venue...' />. If self-hosting is not an option, you can also upload the PNG directly as an image attachment in KakaoTalk.
- Q14. Can I request a new template?
- Send requests to the email in the 'Contact' link at the bottom of the page. Popular styles will be included in future updates.
- Q15. Can I make an English-language doljanchi invitation image?
- Currently the tool is Korean-focused, but you can type an English name in the baby name field and English text in venue, etc., to get a natural English invitation OG image. The top label (e.g. 1ST BIRTHDAY) also switches automatically by event type.
